Our Mission
The mission of the Woodstock Education Foundation (WEF) is to broaden the sphere of learning for Woodstock students by fostering partnerships that provide resources to expand the reach of the K-8 public school experience.
Who We Are and How We Work
The WEF is a non-member, volunteer organization formed by parents and community members concerned about preserving important school programs and enriching K-8 education. The WEF is a 501©(3) non-profit corporation, organized in 2005 and governed by a Board of Directors. As of July, 2021, the Board has granted over $317,000 for educational enrichment programs for the children attending Woodstock Public Schools, Woodstock, CT.
The all-volunteer Board of Directors meets monthly and is comprised of fifteen community members. To optimize commonly held goals, the Board invites the Superintendent of Schools to participate in monthly meetings to insure our synergistic relationship with the Woodstock Elementary School and Woodstock Middle School.
The primary method of raising funds is through an annual Starlight Gala held in the fall. Other important fundraisers include an annual appeal, the creation and sale of pewter ornaments depicting historical Woodstock scenes, and the Building Learning Pathways, Brick by Brick initiative. Through selling engraved granite pavers, the WEF continues to build out two walkways at each public school. The WEF graciously accepts donations on its website as well.
