WEF News:

The WEF instituted an Education Grant program during the 2005-2006 school year. WEF Education Grants are intended to benefit students and enable teachers to enhance and enrich the educational program, to encourage superlative instruction and creative, innovative curriculum development. Teachers may want to try a new strategy or approach and need funding for the project or materials. Funding may also be used for visiting artists or professionals. Field trips will not be considered, however.

In June 2008, the Woodstock Education Foundation partnered with Woodstock Academy to bring celebrated author, Katherine Paterson to Woodstock. Paterson is the author of Bridge to Terabithia and scores of other books for both children and adults. Bridge to Terabithia was a Newbery Medal winner in 1978. Her most recent novel, Bread and Roses, Too received the Christopher award in 2007. She is the 1998 Hans Christian Andersen Medal recipient, was named a Living Legend by the Library of Congress in 2000 and was the 2007 Laureate of the NSK Neustadt Prize for Children's Literature. The Astrid Lindgren Award was given to her in Sweden by Princess Victoria. Paterson has made presentations around the world, on Fiji, in Japan, in Russia, in Central America, in South Africa, in Sweden and she has been published in twenty-five languages!

Many thanks to all who have generously donated time and money to support the all of these wonderful programs!
